Is name brand important to you for baits?

I've been using H20 Xpress(Academy's store brand) for my crankbaits and have seen no difference in the fish. Worms I use Zoom, but that's typical of everyone I believe.

Does the OB favor name-brand baits over random names? If so do you just like the identify with the brand, or does it actually produce better?

That's why I switched. It cost me a lot less when I lose a bait.

Biggest thing with the hard baits like crankbaits are the hooks. Cheaper brands have cheaper hooks, but very easy to upgrade them. I buy those cheap Pop R type baits from BPS, cut the hooks off and replace rear one with a VMC. Same goes for the H2O brands. Soft plastics, pretty loyal to the Zoom brush hogs and lizards and Culprit worms.

I haven't had a problem with hooks yet, but I did upgrade a few just because I wanted a bigger hook.

Depends on the bait.

No shame in just catching little fish buddy. They'll make a fold over sammich.

I catch redfish and bass where I fish and freshwater baits don't do well against reds to begin with, much less the inexpensive ones.

Oh yeah I'd have to change it if I went after reds. They'd tear that shite up.

If the color is right I don't think the fish mind if its bandit, BPS brand or academy brand

Nope. Most of my baits have caught more fishermen than fish. If I would just stick to the classics (senkos/taddys/yozuris/spoons) I would be just fine. But I get all "pie eyed" when I see something new and wind up just filling my tackle box with shite.

Truth! Want to see some serious butt hurt? Whip somebody's arse with a $1 chugger, when he's fishing a yellow magic.

It doesn't matter to me . The only difference to me is in crankbaits . You can pull a bandit out of the box and fish where as to me a Norman , or h2o express you usually have to tune somewhat . I've swapped to big bait creatures instead of zoom baby brush hogs and can't tell a difference in the amount of fish I catch . Spinnerbaits I only use war eagle but that's just preference no other reason . I use big bite sweet beavers also and caught just as many as with a reaction innovation .
