For the life of me I can't figure out what's going on with this. Not too long ago you could get a box of 50 Rem's at Wallyworld for about $3.

I bought a box of 550 at Cabelas in Mitchell, SD for around $20 at the end of last year. I thought that was very reasonable.

Ouch - our academy has them for $64.99, and even thats high compared to what a bucket used to cost.

Our local Academy will only let you buy one box at a time and I haven't seen a box at Walmart in two years.

Consumer demand is up

“Conspiracy theories are just that, and I haven’t found even a smidgen of truth in any of them,” commented Mike Bazinet, Public Affairs Director for the National Shooting Sports Foundation. “This is a consumer-driven shortage. Gun sales have been up for five years in a row, with the most popular
caliber being .22. Sales in 2014 continue at a high pace, higher than 2012, but not as high as the record in 2013.

The ammunition and firearms industries are uniform in their stance that none of these rumors are true. In fact, according to some retailers, the shortage of .22 caliber ammunition is hurting the sales of .22 rifles and handguns.

Why don't more if you sign up for slickguns emails?

I receive emails almost daily for affordable .22LR.

I don't want to have to order it when I'm not gonna use it. I just wanna go buy a little when I want to shoot and shoot it. I don't shoot much and I'm poor.

Question: Are people still stockpiling ammo regularly or is that finally over?

People are stockpiling because obviously the government is coming for our weapons.

Stockpile 1 brick for $30. When you shoot it all up repeat the process.

PS - Now is the time to buy .223 ammo. It is cheap and plentiful. There will be another panic.

Last time I bought a brick it was $20. I still have 200-300 rds left from that one. Was when I bought my revolver, I think late 2011
