Maybe it's the duck dynasty influence, or maybe I'm a dumb arse and didn't know this. I've looked at the regulations and have found nothing.

While teal hunting on the all mighty Toledo Bend a couple of years ago a boat passed close and I overheard the conversation between the rider and driver talking about me...

Rider: Look, that guy is using mallard decoys.
Driver: Yeah, you aren't allowed to do that. He's going to get in trouble.
Me:

When hunting the snow goose conservation season, I was unloading decoys before daylight and the guy I was hunting with said this...

Guy: What are you doing?
Me: Unloading decoys, get to setting them.
Guy: No, I mean why do you have specklebelly decoys? The conservation season is for snows only.
Me: ... Just put the decoys out dude. We're not shooting specks, but I'm using every decoy I have.

So, is this a law? A rumor? A technique to be frowned upon by great hunters educated by A&E?

What gives?

LOL dude come on you seriously hunt with mallard dekes.

But I loled they got some dum-dums/sugar asses out there these days.

I think if we follow through and pick up this new lease this year, I'm going to try the black 2 liter coke bottle decoys.

I'll let you know what I here from passer-bys.

I typically hunt teal with 12-15 teal decoys, and few mallard hens. I may have had a green head or 2 out there. I never really thought it mattered.

I think it was just a 2 stroke 15 hp. They couldn't hear each other over the motor so they were yelling. Sound travels over water very well and I could hear them talking over the hum of the motor plain as day.

Are you implying that it is impossible to hear two people talking in a boat while it's running past you?

I can accept down votes after being told I'm wrong.

What I can't accept is down votes with no explanation.

I'm here to learn, guys.

Hijack: While teal hunting on Toledo Bend once, my hunting partner snap shot a single, then realized it was a woodrow, then turned his back on it, and still denies it to this day, almost 20 years later.

No rules on decoys, species-wise.

The closer to Catahoula this lease is, the less shite you will here about painted jugs. I bet there is zero recycling done in a 100 mile radius of that place.

Killed a few myself (in a blind brushed with pine branches).

Guess that is another Catahoula tradition.

Duck dynasty was the worst thing that could have ever happened to hunters on public land. Every redneck with a shotgun was all the sudden a duck hunter
