I'm in the market for a .45 1911. Was wondering if you guys had any good or bad experiences with these and which you think is the best value? Or is there something better in this price range?

Remington r1 $730
Springfield $780
Desert eagle $830

Thanks for any help.

I like the Springfield out of those choices but the Ruger SR1911 is another great gun at a good value around $730

Is that the Springfield Mil Spec 1911? I like the Remington, but I'm boycotting them. The Ruger SR1911 would cost about the same as these.

The up-side down pistol in my avi is a Springfield A1 "Loaded" and for a dependable, accurate, day in day out 1911 I am more than pleased. Paid $750 for it

Thanks , you guys are all over this.

What about a lower end kimber, is it worth the extra $200

Most will say yes but I say no, at least with the SPF. I am partial to them though and not as high on the kimbers as most.

I'd spend a little more and see if you could find a good condition used SA TRP. Otherwise go with your original choice.

Remington is a turd
DE is a turd.

Get the Springfield out of those choices, a better option would be the ruger though.

Thanks everybody who replied. I believe bass pro had a ruger 1911 in that range as well but was currently sold out.

How about ruger vs Springfield? Anybody else have a preference between those 2?

You can get a ruger for under 700 if you look in the right places.

I only paid $600 for my mil spec sprinfield. I'd really like to upgrade it to the range officer though. Those mil spec sights are awful.
