I've got my eye on the Benelli Supersport.

Any of you guys have experience with it? If not, what is your gun of choice?

I'm new to the sport and have been a grand total of 5 times...and I'm hooked. A friend of mine is AA in NSCA and is teaching me the sport and according to him, I'm a quick learner. Up until now, I've been using his guns and that's how I arrived at wanting the automatic versus the over/under. He's given me his advice of course, but I'd like a few more opinions on good automatics and specifically, the Supersport...if you've ever shot it.

I have shot one several times, it is a really nice gun. Very well balanced with a smooth action.

Why not a O/U? It's what all the champs shoot. Easier to deal with for sporting clays.

Sometimes you need that third shot for the cripples.

No need to bump a thread that is still at the top of the first page. Carry on.

Its a trap game where everyone lines up and 2 shooters fire at one target. 2nd shooter can "bump" the first shooter by hitting a piece or the missed target.

Not sure why i legitimately answered an arrogant, smug bastard like you, but there you are

IMO, having two chokes is a big advantage with an o/u. The second shot is usually farther away than the first. Plus my o/u's never hang up.

Which can be a problem shooting cheap target loads. I know the OP has been using his buddy's semi but I was just wondering if there are other reasons he's not looking into O/Us.

agreed. Its what i use also. But that Beretta Josey Wales just puchased is a smooth swinging, light kicking, pretty arse shotgun

I have a couple of those 391's. Excellent gun, shot them for years (mostly clays).

I swapped over to the Beretta 400 a couple of years ago because it weighs even less than the 391. With the recoil reducer, it's close to being the perfect hunting or sporting shotgun.
