I planted my food plots back in August and they just didn't take like I wanted them too. Is there anything I can do this late to try to salvage my food plots. I am willing to disc and replant even though it might hurt my opening weekend or two. Suggestions? I am in Union Parish close to the Arkansas line so my soil isn't the greatest.

We have hunted a lease in Ashley County Arkansas for the last 25 years which isnt far off and not that different in soil types from what yall have. Let me ask my brother what he uses this late in the season and has success with. I dont plant plots myself but he does.

Plenty of time. Check PH and please don't put nitrogen in with the seed, waste of freaking money. Wheat will take well. Soon as it emerges pour the N to it.

Most non bow hunters don't plant til mid October.

Girlfriends dad in woodville is planting next week.

You have plenty of time

You're still in good shape planting now. It won't be ideal for bow season but you should get a good crop

ETA: Agree with "don't fertilizer with the seed"

It is stupid and useless but of course the guys on our lease love to do it

Monroe you still have plenty of time. I'd go ahead and replant if I were you, but do a soil test and fertilize accordingly.

Any ideas what can be planted without tilling and just broadcasting over existing grass? My little plot has been too wet to till and I would most probably bury the tractor if i tried. About the best i can do is bush hog it.

Not sure about your area, but that's really early to be planting in LA

there are some fertilizers you can get that you can spread with your seed that is instant release,

but some have a 2-4 month period before they become useful
