A Gamo or similar spring-piston .177 cal. My old Benjamin Silverstreak was fun but takes too long to pump up.

I have the Umarex Octane and really like it

No spring piston, you need one with a nitro piston.

Send it back and they'll rebuild it for $35. Call Crossman corp (they own Benjamin now) and get return instructions.

I'd get low velocity .22lr ammo, maybe some CBs. Those high velocity air rifles are far from quiet.

Hatsan 125 sniper vortex (.22)
ETA: Hatsan has a heavier rifling that makes it more accurate and consistent than most others. Also, their velocity ratings come from testing with lead pellets as opposed to all others who use a light alloy to get inflated fps ratings.

Even though velocity rates may appear the same from brand to brand, in most instances that is not the case. Hatsan establishes its velocity rating using heavier lead pellets, while most competitors use lighter aluminum pellets to market their velocities. What this means for you is that a Hatsan airgun delivers OVER 30% MORE IMPACT ENERGY than an alloy-tested airgun with the same velocity.

I just read a thread on here from 2011 stating that if you send it back they send you a new gun not the one you send it. That be BS to just take these oldies out of circulation.

I had my old round handle pump repaired by a guy in Tioga. Amazing the difference. Was better than some other kids' new rifles.

Field supply runs sales on Hatsans fairly often. I got a good deal on one for $75

Get a spring piston in .177 cal that has either an underlever or side lever. Those are going to be the most accurate ones with a reasonable price (about $200) out to 50 yards or so. The break-barrel ones that are turtle-head accurate are going to cost in the $300 range for the less expensive models.
If you don't mind price and weight, get an RWS 54 Air King. Out to 30 yards, it will let you pick which eye to hit with the right pellets.
Pyramyd Air is a great place to shop.
Also, make sure to get round nosed, lead pellets (like Crossman Premeir) for accuracy and don't fall for the alloy ones that promise higher velocity. They suck for accuracy and don't deliver any additional energy on impact with the target.
