I've used Menzerna and Meguiars. Menzerna is really good stuff. Meguiars is too, but I find that I can do much more in much less time with Sonus products, so I generally stick with Sonus compounds and polishes. P21S for carnauba, Collinite or Klasse for sealant, etc.

Question for the fellow detailers: how often do you replace pads, and how do you clean them?
I've found that LC pads are good for 10-15 jobs depending on the amount of work. I just throw them in the washer after every use and let them air dry.
I use Surbuf pads for heavy paint correction, and I've only replaced them once. They last awhile. I don't really recommend those pads for a beginner though. They're not forgiving in the least.

Bapple, want to wax QRs Buckingham blue Range Rover?
Bring it to BR along with some $ and you've got yourself a deal.

I agree pjab. Hand washing my truck is not something I enjoy, but I do it because I thoroughly enjoy having a clean truck. I can't understand how someone can spend $30k plus on a vehicle and let it turn to sheit. Just like I hate maintenance on my house, painting, cleaning gutters, landscaping, pressure washing, but I can't stand letting my house go to shite or looking unkept.

There are new pads that don't require any compound or polish. I'll ask my boat washers what pad it is.

When you go to sell, the upkeep shows.
I don't have swirls in my paint. I do have shitloads of limb scratches, to the point they almost bother me.

Swirl marks do happen. Clear coats do deteriorate if not protected. And even if those things don't happen, I don't want the second most expensive thing I own to look the worst. I take care of everything I own. It's just who I am. I like when things are 10, 20, or more years old and look brand new.

Damn Bapple, you're alot more serious about this shite than I am.
Gonna look into those products you mentioned. Thanks.

You're just a budding grasshopper and I get that. But if you get better products they do so much more work for you.
I have a good friend that used to own a mobile detailing company. He taught me everything I know about detailing so I just try my best to pass on the best information I can.
FWIW, he has a 7 year old Porter Cable dual action polisher that still runs like a top. It vibrates like a mofo but still runs well. I think that would be a good investment for you if you plan to keep doing this, even if just a little bit on the side. You want an orbital polish rather than just a rotary polish.

Ima need someone to get my truck in a few months. You picked up and of his old customers, Bap? Last I heard, he paid someone to do his truck too.
Posted on 4/25/16 at 7:49 pm to bapple
Guy who does my truck uses Rupes, supposed to be almost no vibration or something. If it was something I planned on using often, I would probably spend the extra money.
