Ideal handgun for a woman

Not sure if this is the appropriate place, but my sister (25 years old, no pics) approached me today with the intent of purchasing a handgun to keep at home/in her vehicle.
It's been a while since I've purchased a handgun and want to see what the Outdoor Board suggests.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was reading that a .380 revolver is ideal for some women.
I'm going to go with her this weekend to a couple places so she can get a feel for which firearm she wants.

Mrs. Jack shoots a p238. Solid little gun

Is there any specific manufacturer for .380 revolvers that have great track records for quality? Which should she avoid?

I don't think you can go wrong with a Ruger or S&W revolver. I've heard decent things about the Taurus .380 revolvers, but I've never shot one. Others here may have more input.
ETA: After posting this I did a bit more research and I'm having a hard time finding many revolvers in .380 other than Taurus

Just bought my wife Walther PPS 9mm, she likes it pretty good, but starting to think .380 may have been a better caliber for her. It just recoils a little much for her.

Instead of a revolver why don't you buy her a tomahawk and flint knife for self defense

My wife is 5'4" 105 lbs and has no problem handling a Glock 27 (.40 cal).
My 11 year old son has no problem handling my Glock 17.
All it takes is a little practice operating them.

I hope y'all mean 38Spl revolver and not .380 ACP.
Anyways, is she going to be carrying it or not? If no, I would go full sized pistol/revolver. CC guns, little guns, guns people often buy females are not ideal outside of being a CC gun.
Also, most females, have the strength to to rack the slide on a semi auto if they use the proper technique.
Here's an unnecessarily long video on how to do it LINK

I truly don't understand why anyone would choose a revolver over a semi-auto for a self defense gun.
