My screened in porch is cedar which they apparently love. My wife brought me a can of compressed air. I put the tube as far in the bastards hole (in the wood) as I could get it. With the can on its side sprayed until the buzzing stopped. Then hit it again until the liquid (liquid nitrogen?) came out of the hole.

Pretty sure they didn't like that.

I saw probably on here a nice rig you can build to lure them and then do away with the bodies. Something about diagonal holes so they don't see light and just die of thirst.

So you are using 1 can of air at $5 a pop to kill 1 carpenter bee? Do yourself a favor and splurge for the bug-a-salt. One of the better toys I have picked up on the OB's recomendation.

Oh no. Only used a little bit of it.

And I do want one of those.

I am not sure a bug assault will work on carpenter bees.

Taking down carpenter bees on our wooden deck with a racquet was one of my favorite childhood summer activites

We always just sprayed a little vinegar.

The bees hate it.

Went to pest stop in BR and they sold me a concentrate for $75.
Mixed some of it in a sprayer and sprayed the holes once a month from April thru August.
September I caulked the holes and painted the wood with an oil based paint.
My boat port and porch at the camp has been carpenter bee free for 2 years.

I hung two of thes bad boys up last week, caught 36 of the bees in two days before I lost count, they would stick and eventually fall off so I could t keep up with the count. I haven't seen any since.

I use a boat paddle. Cold beer and I'm in the World Series.

Amen to this. Got my oldest grandson one of these for Christmas. Meant to order one for myself, too, but I forgot...until you just reminded me.

carpenter bees are aubrens fans. cant herd cats, cant reason with inbreds, so hard to kill and wind up feeling sorry for them because they return to the kill zone over and over... stupid

Bug a salt gun is shite, it has trouble against mosquitos. Don't buy it for carpenter bees.

This is your answer.

I always used a wiffle ball bat. I had to get batting practice. My batting average went up significantly after that.
