A group of 4 will be going, and we'll be coming from Birmingham. Not really picky about where we go out from as it will be driving down the night before, fishing, then driving back home. Pensacola/Orange Beach area might be the shortest drive for us, but Destin or Panama City would work as well. I've been out on boats at all 3.
Looking for a minimum 6 hour trip, possibly an 8 hour trip. Timeframe is July, and we're flexible on days so it doesn't have to be weekend. Looking for something economical as well, since a couple of the guys were questioning how much it would cost. I don't mind going out on smaller boats but would need space for 4 fishing. I've checked out websites on a few marinas, but it seems most offer a "half-day" trip that is 4 hours, and that just seems too short to me. The shortest I've been on is a 6, but prefer 8 or 12.

I went on the "Entertainer" once and had a blast. Pretty good variety of snapper, grouper, and other bottom fish. We went on an overnight but they have different packages I think.

Thanks. If we go the big boat route I'll keep that in mind. We were thinking a small private charter or maybe seeing if we can grab two more for those boats that said up to 6 for a certain price.

honestly, I have fished out of all and Louisiana has far better fishing than any of the areas that you mention. it sounds like you are on a short time leash, but if you can stand to squeeze a few more hours of driving into the trip, you will be a lot better off.
now, if it is nice sand and nice tans that you are looking for, that is a different story.

Look up Captain Anderson's Marina. His website has several listings for private charters. A lot are $150 HR with a 4 HR minimum. They also run head boats out of there. My son and I will be taking the 6PM to 2AM trip the week of the 4th.

I just want to drink tallboy white cans and catch big fish. I've had enough stuff cut off of me to avoid tans. I'll consider LA as well. Just not sure the other three will be up for more driving.

I had forgotten about that one. Thanks for reminding me.
