I just acquired a boat with a 2002 Yamaha 150 Vmax that has been sitting for 2 yrs.

What do I need to do?
Previous owner took good care of the boat and kept Sta-bil in the fuel. It ran fine before he sat it up and I don't want to damage anything by trying to start it after sitting that long.

I'd drain whatever old fuel left in it as completely as possible the refill fresh with a good dose of Marine StaBil. Check/replace every other serviceable lubricant too. Pull a spark plug and look into a cylinder if possible. Anyone who does their own maintenance or buys used vehicles should get a cheap smartphone inspection camera. For $10 bucks they are worth tossing a few in a vehicle or garage.

Prob fine but I'd drain all fuel and refill with premium and can of sea foam if you want to be extra cautious. Definitely change out fuel water seperator as well. If it doesn't have one definitely install one prior to cranking up.

What other serviceable lubricants do you mean?

Lower unit oil?

If it's a 4-stroke then it should have an engine oil sump, I assume the drive uses its own oil or grease, and probably some other points that need some sort of lube. I hope you downloaded the owners manual or have it available.

Replace the water pump and clean the carbs.
Make sure the lower unit oil is clean.

Make sure you get a battery that is the recommended CCA's.
The high pressure fuel pumps on the HPDI's like a fresh battery.

Make sure you also change the VST filters. These are the main culprit that makes HPDI's go boom. If those are properly maintained you shouldn't have issues

Yep, and if you are going to go through the trouble of checking it you might as well replace it. They are cheap.

Is it carbed or fuel injected?

I'd do a tune up on it and you should be good. Drain the fuel as mentioned. Change the fuel lines, primer bulb, low pressure fuel pumps (2), clean/rebuild carbs, spark plugs and water pump kit. Just my .02
