uni knot and it's variants (uni to uni, power snell, uni loop) is the only knot you ever need to learn except for a very specialized offshore application

It's a very good knot but no. Just no
When fresh water fly fishing I mainly use a trilene knot.
When connecting mono to flouro I'll use two perfection loops.
Many others.

Exactly. Loop knots...especially good ones are super handy for topwater lures and fly lining live bait.

I pretty much only use a modified uni, snell, and palomar. Just depends on the lure and line.

I've not tied anything but a uni in years

I have the "Animated Fishing Knots" app. It comes in handy.

I got bored a few years ago and tested the breK strength of several terminal knots with mono/flour ok ike the improved fisherman, snell, uni and thumb knot. The thumb knot proved to be the strongest, so I use it for terminal knots on leaders.

Palomar is a decent knot, except it is terrible with fluorocarbon, fluoro tends to cut into itself using palomar and pops on hook sets. Unis and trilene knot for me

I'm a fan of the braid

Non slip mono loop for the win

I only tie the improved clinch knot.
Does anyone else still use this?

I tie improved clinch knot 90% of the time. I haven't had a ICK fail in 15 years, even when trying to pull up a huge log or oyster cluster. I've tried palomar and uni's but I just can't find confidence with them. I do use palomar when tying a mid leader knot like drop shot.
Two common mistakes I see is having a messy knot (it likes to twist on flouro & mono) or they leave too short of a tag end (the knot will "slip" as it tightens the first hard pull and needs ~1/4" of tag end).
I think knots are like lures, there are always going to be fads and the hot one to go to. I think you should choose one or two for your style of fishing and master it. Make it your confidence knot.

I use this one from time to time. Palomar and ICK are the only other ones I use.
