I was operating my bush hog today and came across five wild baby rabbits. They can fit in the palm of my hand. Their eyes are barely open.

What now?

You can buy the milk from a fees store feed every 2-4 hrs keep them warm. I'll take them if you don't want them

Use a syringe to feed them milk while they are that small

Well everything I read told me to put them back. They are hard to raise, the mother will come back for them, etc.

So that's what I did, put them right back where I found them.

How's that?

I put them in the hole where I found them and covered it up with fur from the mom and grass, just like I found it. No ants around, no dead ones and no fleas.

I read that the mom feeds them in the morning and then forages alone during the day and then comes back at night to feed them again.

They only eat twice a day.

Fed them out to what?

You feed helpless animals to larger predators?

I keep one pile for burning and it's about to be burned.

Fed them until they were a good eating size, then I would have taken a knife and cut a throat or five, dressed them, and cooked them in either a gravy or grease

Yep, just put them back. Rabbits only visit their young to feed. Staying away from the nest helps keep predators away.
