Just started getting into it myself. Lots of fun and a pretty dang good adreanaline rush busting through a thicket trying to get to a bay.
Just curious how popular this is elsewhere. I know it's gotten pretty popular in South Arkansas where I live.

Also I might be looking for some hog dogs.... should anyone happen to have any...

I've done it a good bit this past year and I must say I like it.

Ive done it quite a bit over the last 10 years. I dont own any dogs myself because of where I live but friends and cousins have plenty.

If you get your own dogs then make sure you have a good cut kit. Cause it is going to happen.

I started hunting them last year with dogs and it's a lot of fun. I don't have any dogs so I just hunt with people that have them. I also like hunting them at night.

Know a lot of people that do it. A lot of the guys have gotten so into it that they go buy big boars and bring them to their land. Of course all the boars are cut but a lot of the land owners that run dogs have a zero kill policy for hogs on their place.

I love it and now that deer season is out we are going to drop the tailgate next week. Dog wise we mostly have plott dogs along with one blue tick and two walker dogs.

Word advice: Keep your dogs on your land. I had a run in with some guys "just trying to catch their dogs" on my land two weeks ago. I'll post the story one day, waiting for the legal system to work it out.

I made it clear that I would gladly deal with the sheriff over a bunch of dead dogs on my land.

I've known my share of folks that have had issues with walking their own land to go deer hunting and come across a group of hog dogs. One particular had 4 pits running on his place

My situation had three side-by-sides, seven guys all armed with rifles including two ARs and a pack of dogs including several pits.

Versus me and my 75 year old dad with shotguns and steel shot. We were duck hunting.

He's got something like 14000 acres to run and a pack of mean arse cut up cur dogs.

He likes to be the catch dog. Dude is nuts.

A friend of mine wants to go to some place where you kill them with knives. I respectfully declined.

I've marked the ears, docked the tails and made many a bar out of many a young boar, but I have absolutely no desire to actually kill one with a knife.

My good friend is in the process of starting up a charter type service for this. He's got the boat, the dogs, the bowie knives , etc. He is just waiting on some permits and a large plot of land to lease. He kills tons of hogs everytime he goes out. He goes in WMA's right now, but you're not allowed to charge people and bring them to WMA's so thats why he's working out the details for the private land.

Why not just kill them? I understand the recreation aspect of it and if you kill them off in an area you wont have anything to hunt. Just pisses me off when I kill a hog rooting up my food plot, cleaning out my corn pile, or possible cleaned out several turkey nest and that bastard has marked ears.
