No link just saw this email from the la birders.
From the Cameron Pilot News Desk:
A groundbreaking ceremony will be held, Wednesday August 3, at 4:30 pm on an extended stay hotel in Hackberry. SLA Hotel and Restaurant Group has already begun groundwork on the Mainstay Suites Hackberry Sportsman's Lodge, to be located at 700 Main Street.
Spokesman Kevin Ashy says the three-story, 62 room hotel will cater to the many nature and outdoor enthusiasts who currently travel the Creole Nature Trail, including hunters, fishermen and birders. The company has done extensive marker research and concluded that a need exists to house these customers in Cameron Parish. Several guide services and lodges have had to house clients in Sulphur when there was not enough room locally.
Expanding LNG opportunities will also help fill the rooms, Ashy said. Each room will include a kitchenette so longer term visitors can prepare their own meals. The lodge will have breakfast capability and a pub, and the company is in negotiations with a 24-hour restaurant.
The lodge is being built to Florida construction codes, which are more stringent than those in Louisiana. The current project is only the first phase; the goal is to expand later on. “We’re in Cameron Parish to stay,” Ashy said.
The Mainstay Suites will be the first hotel (tourist lodging with interior corridors and food services) built in Cameron Parish since at least the 1930’s. The Cameron Hotel was once located near the Cameron Courthouse. After it closed, the two-story building was moved to Broussard Beach Road, but fell into disrepair and is no more.

Extended stay "lodge". Sounds like a motel.
