Does hook color matter for you? I like gold hooks for sacalaperch, blued hooks for bluegills. I always used standard Eagle Claw black finished for bass.

I never got into the red hook fad. Maybe hook color doesn't matter. What say you?

Pretty much the same. I like having a little red on all my baits though so I have used the red hooks. Supposedly, red triggers instinctive bites due to a blood reflex. I have severely outfished some friends where we use the same bait except I had added some red to mine.

I use the red Gamagatsujapaneseword hook. Don't think it matters having the red since I use watermelon red baits mostly. Bite doesn't seem to slack off after the red flakes off and the gold hook shows.

Like most things, if I use it and have success I stick with it and don't try new stuff.

I stopped using red hooks for bass about 6 months ago. I havent caught many fish since. This thread made me think about that. *goes to academy tomorrow for red hooks*

It's the red!!! I literally have some red on every bait I throw. Or try to. Not that important at night, but daytime...YES!!!

I've been to two walmarts and haven't found any red 2/0 hooks. Gonna stop at the Walmart in Natchez in the morning and hopefully find some

Not a big bass fisherman, so when I don't catch fish, its not because of the hook color.

Usually don't matter, but I've seen it matter. Actually seen it make the difference of putting a limit of bass in the boat and not catching shite. It's one them things. When it don't matter it don't matter, but when it does...

Yellow with purple polka dots. Okay, not really, but seriously it doesn't matter what color your hooks are.

Red hooks for spinner trailers, rear trebles in craintbaits too.
It's not magic but it works.

Gold for sacaulait fishing with shiners and crickets.

Black for most bass, but use red with junebug or waterline red plastics.

I went thru with a test of black or red truna fishing. Red won three to one every time I did this. The red hide better when chunking.

Small game, fresh or salt, it didn't matter.
