Due to recent heavy rain in the Pearl River BASIN, flooding has forced us to CLOSE the range.

Damn that stinks. I was there Saturday and the water didn't seem too high.

I worked Friday afternoon and it was 5ft or more below the top of the bridge...

I'm not sure if it over-topped yet or if our Rangemaster is just being precautionary.

Saturday am was sweet. Me and a buddy had the rifle range to ourselves from 8-10. I Wanted to take a picture bc I had never seen it so empty.

On a side note, did something happen that now everyone must take their guns out the case on the shooting bench? I didnt remember having to do that before.

It has been that way for as long as I can remember, and for good reason.

Also, seems like it will be back open by the 27th, which is awesome because I planned to go then.

Sweet.

No arguments here when safety is a concern.

As nismosao said, it's been like that as long as I've been there and longer. We don't want people uncasing their guns on the rear benches and then muzzle sweeping the entire line as they walk to the shooting bench. Purely a safety issue.

The email from our Rangemaster said that our post-weekend clean up crew was ran out of the refuge by DWLF so they could close and lock the main gate because of the flooding coming.

Do you know if it will be open tomorrow. Have never been to Honey Island and plan on going tomorrow. Is there anything to know before going other than what is on their site?

Good question. It appears to be below flood stage right now

Are xm855 allowed here? Site says no armpit piercing rounds. I know some people say they are armpit piercing even though they are not. Also, can you bring your mags full or do they have to be empty to load at the range?

Don't know the answer to your first question. But you definitely can bring loaded mags.
