Want to take my son and get him to shoot the .22 for the first time.

Will I have to wait for a spot on the rifle range? Never been on a Saturday.

Sorry I'm just seeing this. Worked night shift last night and been sleeping all day.

With the multitude of hunting seasons upon us or upcoming, it has been pretty busy lately.

I worked an officer shift last weekend and the rifle range was steady all day until around 4pm then it thinned out. The rimfire range was fairly steady all day too.

For the next couple months and with the temps dropping and heat dissipating, I'd expect it to be fairly busy.

Starting next weekend, the range will transition to "winter hours" so with less open hours available, I'd expect it to be a little more busy also. See picture below for hours.

When was the last time you were there? I've been a part of the organization for about 1.5 years now and have been shooting there for about 3 years.

I can honestly say that if I've seen someone not being safe, the range officers intervened. If your "jack leg" comment is referring to range officers, please remember and consider that our 1st and foremost duty is to ensure the safety of not only you, but every single person on the range INCLUDING OURSELVES. If your perception of a range officer's actions equals him being a jack leg, remember that if he didn't think it was something to raise a concern over, he wouldn't have said anything to begin with. We're out there to keep everyone safe and offer help and advice when asked. We don't go out of our way to interfere with your shooting experiences.

We want you to enjoy your day so you come back.

If you see Troy and Lizbeth, don't choot em.

OK, I know it's not funny, but I'm jaded from watching Swamp People, whenever I hear Honey Island I think of Elizabeth. Isn't that where she's from?

She's from Pecan Island... Down in the SW part of the state.

Terral Evans is the cast member from Honey Island

When you said Pecan Island, I remembered. Thanks for the correction!

Yep...I'd like a little clarification on that remark as well...

a couple of years at least
if it's more closely monitored now than it was before then obviously my comment is dated

no I wasn't referring to the range officers...I was referring to customers
