honda foreman carb trouble

I have a 2005 honda foreman 500 that will continually drip/leak gas from the carburetor overflow. I have taken it apart, cleaned all the jets, replaced the float and the needle valve, and it still leaks gas. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions.

Take rubber parts off and soak in carb cleaner for a while. Then, blow it out with air
Also, make sure the spark plug boot is all of the way clipped on

I have this same problem. I use the petcock to turn the gas off because I'm lazy.

That and make sure to set the float level right. With the carb off, upside down and bowl cover off, the float should be level. Also, once to turn the carb upside right, it shouldn't over hang. Adjust as needed.

The float on this model is not adjustable

Petcock also leaks a bit when in the off position

Those aren't expensive and easy to replace. Ethanol and not run much?

Its sits up a bit from March to August. I mainly use it in hunting season.

Petcocks are cheap. You gotta treat that gas if you are going to leave Ethanol gas up for any longer than like a week or 2

Mine started after we jetted the carb, installed a snorkel, raised it up, waterproofed the air box, and sank it at mud stock

I only use mine during hunting season....turn it off when done....turn it on when i crank it up....works fine

I turn the gas off also but mine has been sitting up on jack stands the last 1.5 years I'm changing out the wheel bearings, tearing out the front end components (repairing and painting) and doing some work to the rear end .
I'll probably have a new one by the time I get mine back together.
Hard to work on it when it's 3 hrs away and other shite needs doing on your days off.

Do what meauxjeaux2 said, and to check the seating when done turn carb upside down (mocking a bowl full of gas) and blow into the fuel inlet. No air should pass, letting you know the jet is seating tightly.

The brass piece the needle goes in comes out and has an oring on it.
Replace the oring and you will be good to go.

This is a pic of the valve seat. There is no oring and the seat is not removable. I did buff the seat last night and it appears that the leak has slowed. I will try to fine tune it a bit more tonight to get it to make a good seal

Sorry about that, most of the Honda carbs have a removable seat.
Most likely the tip of the needle is deformed.
You can soak it and brake fluid for about 20 minutes to swell it up but I would recommend replacing to not have to go back in it again

A new kit with a needle is about $9. It's worth it.
