BIL has a lease up there. The deer are definitely there. They dont shoot them this big every year. Ive been there 3 times and never seen a buck, but Im not a hardcore hunter and I miss most of the morning hunts.

They do have pigs out there as well.

This was shot on land bordering his lease. Guy is in his lease and leases the land next to it.

Article about it.

Out of state residents can't shoot does in the forest.

That's an absurd rule, IMO.

But residents can shoot spikes from their vehicles that they see run from the road into the woods in the direction of non-residents perched in a tree.

Hunted there for a few years.

The deer are there but its not easy hunting. Nobody is going to roll in on the ranger opening day, sit from 6:30 to 9 and kill deer there. However put in the time scouting, put in the stand time and you might be pleasantly surprised.

ETA: same with most public land

There are deer there. Just have to do the time scouting and wiling to go deep in. Brother hunted there for first time and took 3 does and a nice buck. In fact, he saw a whole herd of deer at one point and a few monsters not within bow range. He didn't get why people always down played it as being a not so good area to hunt.
