Been wanting to pick some of these up for reference for a while now, anyone have any experience with either of them? Preference of one of the other?

Probably better just to use youtube unless it's something really specific you are working on like a Kerdi shower system.

It's even better if you can get someone experienced to teach you how to do that stuff.

I agree with this.

What are you getting ready to build?

I found that with the Home Depot books they have a perfect world and don't address problems of a real life house. I have the flooring book and my house looked nothing like the examples in there. Rooms aren't square and the walls and trim were not as clean and neat when the carpet was removed.

Nothing, just giving the wife some cheap options for Christmas. I've always wanted to have these in my shop. I prefer reading a manual/book over watching a video in the shop.

You would actually prob be better off getting a subscription to fine home building to have access to the library of all of their articles. trim carpentry there are many tricks of the trade that an expert can teach you that will save you tons of time & materials. But if you don't like the idea of the magazine the publisher tautons google it they have some great books on the subject
