Just got to our camp in North Central La and had to walk past a couple oak trees to get to the stand. I have never seen this many acorns. I'm hunting on a pipeline and can see the corn piled up under my feeder. I might as well shut the feeder off for a while.

What's the rest of the state looking like?

Lots here in Alabama. I guess thats good cause without any rain we wont have any food plots.

Bought my seed a month ago. Still sitting in the barn. When it finally rains and I get it planted it will turn cold and stay that way, and plots wont grow worth a crap.

Damn you Obama

You think the abundance of Acorns has to do with the drought?

Same here. No joke, it was like walking on marbles. Then a gust of wind blew with this front coming thru, and I got pummeled. Big arse white oak acorns too.

I deer hunt in SW AR and there's also a bumper crop there. I went on the private property doe hunt this past weekend. I told my hunting buddy I had to turn down the volume on my electronic muffs because the falling acorns were so loud.

Same here- I have one food plot off a hardwood bottom and once the acorns fell, the deer absolutely stopped going to the plot or the feeder on it.

Bumper crop here in Virginia, too. Like walking on marbles in the woods. Good mast crop this year means lots of good racks next year.

So far I haven't seen as many around me as last year, last year was insane with acorns, and also FAR from cold.
