I am on my way to my camp in Poplarville MS to make a turkey hunt tomorrow and saw at least 6 hogs on the side of the interstate along the Pearl River WMA.
Can you hunt them with a rifle or not since it is turkey season

I was wondering the same thing about Bonnet Carre

I could have swerved off the road a little and hit one. No use in waiting ammo

Not sure if it's the same, but the WMA I hunt in MS says you can only kill them with the weapon used for that season. Bow season, you can only use a bow. Turkey only a shotgun.

There is no hog season though.

From the 2012-2013 Hunting Regs:
quote:
During hunting seasons specified on
WMAs, EXCEPT the turkey and spring
squirrel seasons, take of outlaw quadrupeds
and birds, with or without the use of electronic
calls, is allowed by properly licensed
hunters and only with guns or archery
equipment legal for season in progress on
WMA.

Sounds like blasting time to me. Load up the WMD's boys!

Hog season:
Specific WMAs have different seasons maybe. That's why I was asking about Bonnet Carre

Holders of a valid Louisiana hunting license may take coyotes, feral hogs where legal and armadillos year round during legal daylight shooting hours

On private property, it's year round.
On WMA's, it's only during other hunting seasons that you can take hogs, and NOT during turkey or spring squirrel seasons.
