Hog hunter shot in Kisatchie

NATCHITOCHES PARISH, LA (KSLA) - A 35-year-old Lena man is recuperating in a Shreveport hospital after being shot in a hunting accident Dec. 28 in southwest Natchitoches Parish, according to the Natchitoches sheriff’s and state Wildlife & Fisheries officials.
Derrick Coutee and 5 others, including his father, were hunting hogs off Longleaf Trail in Kisatchie Wilderness Area when the accident happened about 10:46 a.m. All 6 hunters were shooting at a group of hogs when a bullet went through one of Coutee’s legs and lodged in the other. Wildlife & Fisheries investigators are trying to recover the bullet to help determine the shooter, Wildlife & Fisheries Capt. Curt Belton said.

I live in Natchitoches and that why I never go to Kisatchie.

I hunt Kisatchie all the time and never see anyone.

I've hiked camped near there many times during hunting season. Never even heard a shot. Must not be many people there.
