Has anyone been lately? I have never been but going soon. My main question is the lake there more like the south part of toledo with clear water/hydrilla? Midlake, scattered grass....etc..... thank u folks

I haven't been this year, but we used to go every spring and fall.

We always had good luck with carolina rigging next to docks and structures.

As for your other question...I'm not sure. There is not much grass in the middle of the lake.

It's a beautiful lake. The water is usually crystal clear. I went a few times last year and caught a few each trip. I could see the damn fish in the water, but couldn't make them take the bait. Headed back in a few weeks.

Thank you fellass....will give an update after the trip.... good to hear about the carolina rigging. My favorite way to bass fish...could drag that deal all day.

In it's hay day (80's and early 90's) it was one of the best lakes to fish in LA. My best was about 6.5 pounds but people caught many 7's, 8's, and 9's.

It was almost guaranteed you'd have at least one huge kicker every time you went. And the average fish was a solid 2 pound football.

This was my buddy and I about 1993. I have my 6.5 and he has a 7 lbs 14 oz. Both got mounted.

It's funny this came up, he recently posted this pic to my facebook... we were just kids back then having fun.

They had their own limit, but it used to be private. I haven't fished it since it became a state park, so I don't know.
