Who has one and what are your thoughts? I picked one up two weeks ago and my take so far is that it is a Glock with better ergonomics and a better trigger with a quicker reset than most other striker fired pistols on the market. Another plus is that as a lefty the slide release and mag release are both ambidextrous. Most folks forget that this isn't HK's first foray into the striker fired pistol market. HK was a trailblazer with the VP70 in 1970 (even before Glock)and the venerated P7.

Have USP .45. If I get another H&K pistol it will be a Mk 23.

I like it but it looks like a ppq but more expensive due to name.

That was my next gun until the sig p320 came out.

I picked one up for $595 so price is hardly an obstacle. It uses the same mags as the p30 so plenty to share.

How does The frame feel compared to th P30? The controls? It looks s bit cheaper on the review.

If they take the same mag and stuff, wouldn't they be almost interchangeable? I heard the grip panels and stuff are identical.

That is correct. It is built on the P30 frame. It accepts P30 mags. As far as the argument that it is a more expensive Walther, I am unaware of Walther putting any firearm through the torture tests that HK does. The P30 famously went through 90k rounds without a failure. This pistol is priced to compete with the gen 4 Glocks and it absolutely holds up. HK is supposedly planning a VP in .45 ACP and .40 SW as well.

Just an aside but the VP stands for Volkspistole aka people's pistol.

Grip is very close to the p30 but the stippling on the polymer is a different design.

It uses the same mag release as the p30 (not the small p2000 one) and is lighter and thinner than a p30. The controls are different but I think they did that to make it a better conceal carry gun. It is thinner but they sell slim mag releases for the p30 that are similar.

I have not had time to take to the range though with work.

That's a cool tidbit of knowledge. I may reconsider.
