If on private land, you can use any rifle you want. Public land is still primitive weapon only.

I would imagine anything other than a WMA is considered private, but I could very possibly be wrong on that.

You have to use a primitive weapon on National Forest lands as well. However, the only LEOs I've ever seen near Desoto NF were on my land trying to see "if anyone was using it".
