Actually it looks like he is wearing a set of Walkers Game Ears, which look just like regular ear muffs. They are meant to amplify sound of game movement while also providing noise reduction of the firearms sound when discharged.
I saw a stake (No. 25)
Was he on some type of big game "skeet shoot" where they release a hog near the station and he is suppose to shoot it ala skeet? If so, shitty way to "harvest" game of ANY type IMHO.
Anyhoose, it looked to me like he heard him coming but couldn't figure out where he was until it was almost too late. I tried a pair once and hated it. You could hear stuff but could not really locate it's whereabouts very easy in relation to your position.
Never had much of a chance to try that red dot scope out either.

You have to get some good ones. MSA Sordins and I can tell where stuff is coming from. Peltor makes so a higher end ones that are pretty nice as well.
If course they have to have gel ear cups so you can wear them all day.
