I am in North La. Have done Buffalo River many times. Is there anything closer?

Where exactly in N. LA? There are plenty of options depending on the type of float trip you want to do and the amount of time you want it to take.

Madison Parish. Looking for some rapids but nothing crazy. Want a good flow so kids can enjoy and not have to paddle our arse off.

You could either try the Homochitto in MS or the Little Missouri river in Arkansas. The Little Mo between hwys 84 and 70 has class I & II rapids and is only about 4.5 hours from Madison parish.

ETA: Here's some info LINK

There are places around Toledo Bend, I know a couple on the South end, but that isnt really close to you, check around the north side and see if you can find anything.

Toro Bayou always looks interesting. I want to yak it when this rain calms down and it clears back up.

This one is in Allen Parish. Very tame and LOTS of traffic. Several canoe rental places that put in dozens of canoes.

Whiskeychitto River

And full of trash, both the human kind and the other kind, unfortunately. Used to be a decent place, though.
