It's cool to hate on anyone with success around here. Especially when they use their fame for a good cause.

I'm not one way or the other I could really care less. But people are very quick to jump in hating that the gov gives tax breaks and incentives because it's tangible to them that the governments is giving out money.

What isn't tangible is the amniunt of revenue directly and indirectly tied to those programs that is brought in to the state. Just saying I'm sure the amount of industry and whatever else comes along with these shows pays pretty well.

All the money was going back to California.

There was a lot of front companies and organized crime involved.

All of the money is a very broad statement. 'Twas maybe most of the tax breaks handed out went back to cali but that still doesn't account for revenue generated that's is indirectly tied and not tangible

I'm pretty sure the film tax credits were a net cost to the state. Search Loren Scott's analysis on the subject.

He looks a lot better and the money was for a great cause.

It is amazing what doctors can do to repair cleft palates. Dr. Kenneth Salyer of Dallas, a family friend, does amazing work and much of it is charity. He travels around the world dealing with major facial repair.

Interesting fact about Dr Salyer...he was there in the emergency room at Parkland Hospital when they wheeled JFK in back in '63.

I was playing golf with Jase before the show came out, I owed him about $6 when it was over, I handed him a $100 check for Mia and he teared up.

The Robertson's have never been well off. Korie is the one with money in her family, not the Robertson's. Her Grandfather/ Dad sold their grocery store to Sam Walton, and they have done well in real estate and book publishing ever since. Willie married into money, they never had money prior.

Thanks for putting me into that. I cannot say that I read through the entire report but I did do a pretty good reading through it. From what I found is that it was actually a benefit to the state in the for every tax dollar spent there was a little over 4 dollars in sales generated in state. So not a net cost but they did point out some innedective parts of the program and suggest changes.

In general the program does not deserve the scathing criticism it receives.

Have plenty of respect for the Robertson boys and Phil but I've heard from multiple people in Monroe that the wives are straight up snobs in person. Guess I understand with the publicity and not being able to do certain things like they use to (grocery shopping etc) without being harassed somewhat, but the people I've talked to said they became straight bitches to people.
