Have any of y'all ever sent your Costas in for repair?
Posted by pointdog33 on 4/3/14 at 2:01 pm00
My costas lenses are starting to lose their coating from what I can tell and I want to get the fixed/replaced. Have y'all ever sent a pair in for repair and what does the "lifetime warranty" cover? I was reading some FAQs and they were talking about cost of repair, which has me wondering what is the warranty for in the first place.

i did.
my son dropped mine and one of the lenses cracked. this was not covered so i had to pay. they did fix the nose piece and tighten the hinges for free
i think i had to pay 8 bucks or so for something(on top of the other fee for the lens fix)

Yes I sent mine in because my polarization was damaged and made everything blurry, it was not very noticeable either. They fixed it no problem. You have to pay like $7 I think but they will let you know once it gets to the shop if it's not covered and you will have to pay before starting any work. All in all though I wouldn't worry much about them charging you.

Sounds good. How long did it take them to get them back to you?

Stop leaving them on the dash of your vehicle when it gets hot.

Manufacturers defects.

It is for manufacturers defects, not your lack of care for the item. However, they cut you a break and it is not bad. I totally smashed a pair when a tree I cut on my shooting lane fell on them. They had broken frames and cracked lenses. I got a new pair for about $60 including shipping.

I sent a pair in about 6 months ago after the nose piece cracked in half while I was putting them on one day. I think it was about a 2-3 week turn around and they sent me a new pair. I think I have to pay the $12 handling fee, plus shipping

I made some good money doing that in my early 20s

I cracked a lens and sent them in. Told them the corners of the mirror finish were beginning to delaminate. Got them fixed free

Rubber was peeling off the frames of some old costas I had for 5 years. They said it was a manufacturer defect and told me to pick out a new pair from the website. 12$ and three weeks later I had a new pair of harpoons.

When I shattered mine I think paid around $50 to get them repaired. The rubber is wearing off and I got some scratches on the lens so it might be time to send them back in

That's what mine are doing. Just printed out my repair slip. Hopefully they'll come back quick

First time was about a year ago. Second time was about 5 months or so later.
ETA: The rubber kept coming of so they would just swap them out.

They stopped doing it in SELA because a buddy and I would buy broken ones for $20, swap them out for free, and turn around and sell them for $100. After 100 or so, they realized something was up

If you go to their website, you fill out a form detailing whats wrong with the glasses and put in in the box you ship your glasses in. Depending on the problem it can be a $25 fix up to $90 or so for new glass lenses. Warranty strictly covers manufacturing defects, basically if you break it you pay for it.

$90 for "A" lens, or both? I need both of mine replaced...
