Been thinking about a taco, but they're almost the same damn price as a full sized.
You'll also get decent value if you ever try to sell or trade it in, though.

Where are you seeing that for an F150 FX4? I've been looking and most full sized 4x4 are north of 40k for a crewcab.
Just search autotrader.com using those parameters. There aren't a lot of them out there, but basic crew-cab 4x4s can be had for under $30k, and even the XLTs are available for unde $35k. Some of them are 2014 models, but that doesn't bother me if they're still new.

Towing my 20' xpress (3000lbs +/- on a heavy day)and the tacoma was squatting bad and stopping was becoming an issue.
This sounds like a trailer balance issue.

Tacoma gets 20 mpg on the interstate at 75 mph. The only good thing about the tacoma is the resale value.

And fitting in a garage
And having actual offroad capability
And reliability
And not looking like an effeminate Transformer

My buddy I just moved into has a Colorado 4x4 z71. Older model. I like it. The new ones look like shite. It pulls the boat great. Never have been stuck in mud.

My 2015 F-150 Crewcab fits in my garage fine with my wife's Explorer

A little truck is like a little pecker,
it's alright around the house but
it ain't worth a dam out on the town.

Look for low mileage used and save some money and still have warranty. I just bought '13 with 14k miles and looked new inside and out. Paid less than blue book and guess what, it didn't lose any value when I drove it off the lot.

Nah the rear springs are weak as shite on these trucks. Had mine replaced under a TSB for "harsh ride" at around 50K miles or so, ie. it would hit the bump stops crossing a speed bump or small ditch/water furrow. The replacements are now flat and weak as shite, too. Yota sent out a letter saying they're going to replace all the springs for a certain range of year models that I don't remember (but 07 is incl) I'm thinking I might just bite the bullet and go with ARB Dakar's on mine b/c in that letter it stated they would reimburse (probably not 100% reimb.IMO) if the owner had replace the springs, etc. The reason Yota cites for replacing is there's a chance the leaf can break and puncture the gas tank.

That sucks. I could tow 3k all day long with my 99 4-cyl with no problem, and it was even easier with my 04 v6.
For new springs, I had an Alcan pack in my 04 that was custom built how I wanted it. Deaver also makes really good springs

Already took mine off. Toyota makes some pretty garbage necessities for trucks. Swapped the overload and bottom leaf for a set of two late 80s GMC 1500 springs. Ride is a lot better and it doesn't squat as much with weight. Maybe got an inch or less out of the addition in height.
Also they're getting rid of the regular cab and I believe the manual transmission is gonna be harder to find than ever. I've heard dealers around LA can't get them period preordered

Yeah, talked to a Cali after mkt vendor (Headstrong Offroad) and they said Deavers was working on a better leaf pack for the Tacoma.

I'm thinking about doing this on mine, too, vs. dropping $500 on a set of leaf packs. There's a thread on Tacomaworld that describes how to do it, too. I'm just short on time. My plan of running 2 older trucks vs. buying new is wearing me out currently, they're both at about 170-175K and needy.

IIRC, when I was big into the Tacoma world, everyone at TTORA who got new springs either went Deaver, Alcan, or took the springs out of a late 80s c/k10, took one leaf out, and stuck them in. That provided like 5" of lift though. I think the Deavers were softer with more leaves, and the Alcans were typically more stiff with less.
With custom springs, you can get exactly what you want.
I was one of the first 100 members of TTORA nationally, and started the LA chapter

TW has the thread still up. A lot of people are going the late 80s C/K springs. Look at page 67, or a page in that area, of the thread, one guy put together a list of what someone would need to do the project, very helpful.

They don't want them, you lose the resale bump on a single and/or manual. I bought a 2013 and I get inquiries from the dealer every month about trading it in. It is actually worth almost what I paid for it.

I have a 2012 Nissan Frontier crew cab. Really similar to the tacos, tows exactly the same etc.
It tows just fine, but your mpg drops 2 or 3 when pulling something.
The only time I wish I have a full size is when loading something 10 feet plus since I have the short bed.

Sounds more like maxing out payload which is a lot less in a compact than a full size - payload is very often overlooked when looking for a new vehicle that will be used to tow whether it be a boat, trailer full of ATV's, or anything else, they look at max tow weights. After you load up a compact truck with people and gear for a weekend fishing trip you don't have much if any available payload left to tow anything.
