Looking for a rugged handheld that I can do lake contour maps with as well as Topo/trail maps. From what I have found the lake contour map is $100+ extra for a disk or chip and detailed topo maps may or may not be extra depending on the model.

Are these things even accurate enough to locate underwater structure with any reliability? Do certain brands have better/more detailed maps?

Anyone use a handheld for the same functions that can recommend something? Is it possible to stay under 300$ for a good unit with all the maps I want?

Not talking about sonar/downscanning. Something like this that shows underwater contour lines, creek channels, rock piles, etc and would show your position on the map.

Whatever came with it ..I would have to check ...I used it going to Arkansas and it showed the speed and mountain elevation.
Says it includes MapSource Trip and Waypoint manager.
I think it was downloaded with the US Map but not positive ....I would have to try to find the receipt.
