Those are some sloppy ties:

use thread
use a whip finish on the end
finish the wrap with epoxy
use less hair

Krappie Killer jigs is where its at. My personal favorite is the #17 which is a black/chartreuse/red combo. Mr. EJ Ovella from Poland, which is about a ten minute drive from Alexandria, makes them. I was at his house on Tuesday picking up some from him. He has way more selection at his house (probably 75 plus combinations) then you will find at the stores. First class guy and likes to talk fishing. His cell number is 318-447-2572. Just call to see if he is home and he will be happy to help you.

Made a dash through Toledo Tackle last night. They have Jenny's. I got the char/blk/char I wanted plus a blue/silver and an orange that is kinda close to cajun cricket.

Not really, it's just an observation. I've been tying flies my entire life and those look like flies that were slapped together in a hurry. The flies aren't even finished properly. If they have head cement or uv epoxy like you say those little tag ends will catch on aquatic grass as well as work a small hole into the finished head.

They probably fish just fine. I doubt the fish care. A few extra seconds on each fly and it would be much nicer product.

I think someone overestimated the intelligence of the crappie. They seem to eat anything jig-like. But then again, I've seen shiners whoop up on jigs before.

Those little glass shrimp are super simple to tie. The body is just UV resin and burnt mono for the eyes. Great little flies. I've used a similar version on a 1/0 for redfish.

Hackle feathers, crystal flash, burnt mono eyes, and a little UV resin is all you need. You could probably buy everything you need to tie 100 of them for $25 and most of the cost will be in the UV resin. So the next 100 will be less than half of that price depending how much you spend on your hooks.

It's just not something I am interested in doing. I am grateful for all the folks who enjoy doing it and will gladly pay them for their efforts.

I like that copper one, that has gotta do something somewhere.

I am about to buy a jig and get to tying. I will fail miserably and throw it all out the front door, but for now I have big plans.
