This is at our hunting camp about 50 miles north of Pensacola on the Florida/Alabama line. One of the members said he almost stepped on it as it was lying in the grass, then it slithered under the camper. The only shot he got was the picture. By the time he retrieved a firearm it had escaped and hopefully not into my bed which is on that side. Good thing is there probably aren't any rats around. Second time one has been spotted in the camp & nothing to show for either one. Could be the same one as the number of rattles (10-12) on this one was similar to the other one.

I don't kill every snake I see, but this fricker obviously needs to be terminated with extreme prejudice. Y'all be careful out there.

Found the only pic of rattlesnake #1 that was seen last year crawling into our bathroom/shower area. Great news for us, they aren't the same snake. This one is much lighter in color. Similar scenario as the recent sighting. Alone and this time unarmed. Baw said he wasn't going in there by himself armed with only a stick or a shovel.

Holy hell!! Y'all need to stay armed with pistols with rat shot. I always carry one around our camp.

I hear you. After the first sighting/pic which was taken by the property owner, he put a .45 under a pot in the barn jic someone was up alone & unarmed. The camp is not attached to our lease. I went up with another member the day after the 1st sighting to find it, no luck. Going up tomorrow or Sunday to look for #2. This is diamondback country, it is what it is.

The one under the camper looks like a diamondback. Anyone know if the one under the fence is a diamondback or a timber?

That was my initial thought as well re: the one under the fence. They are not very prevalent in this area however. The canebrake, which has more of a gray color does reside in southern Alabama. I think it is just a light colored diamondback. Regardless of what species it is, it can ruin your day & then some.

Thanks... a lot! Now I'll be paranoid to turn on my space heater in the winter in case I warm those babies up and they want to snuggle. May stay up all night so I don't have snake in the camper dreams.
