I will be heading to Texas soon and I take my firearm with me where ever I go. I dont have a conceal and carry permit but in Louisiana I dont have to have one because our laws allows us to open carry or carry a pistil in our vehicle as an extension of our home without a permit. Is Texas the same way?
Thanks guys!

In Texas we have the law that you are allowed to carry a pistol in your vehicle without needing a permit.
Texas also has open/conceal carry but these options do require a permit.

Thanks TexasTiger! I did a little research but what I found was confusing.
on opencarrytexas.org it said this
"Can I open carry in a vehicle?
?Yes. You no longer have to conceal your holstered firearm while in your vehicle provided you have a license. If you do NOT have a license, you WILL need to keep your handgun concealed. Keep in the mind that the handgun must be "on or about" your person. This generally means that you must be able to access the firearm without "materially having to change position" to retrieve it. In layman's terms, "within arm's reach." It still must be in a holster."
I didnt want to travle without it but im glad to know I can.

I can't remember the specifics, but when I drove out to CA, I called every state police CCW office for the states I was going through. Better to get it straight from the horses mouth IMHO.
I don't believe TX honored LA CCW permits. IIRC, Arizona and Nevada did though.
