Gun laws in California....just moved here

I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with what the gun laws in California are, as far as when I can carry my gun.
I have looked online and saw that CA does not honor the CC permit given by Louisiana - which I have. I knew this much, but I'm wondering other than that, can I carry in my car?
Since they don't honor my LA permit, do I still let the officer know if/when I get pulled over that I'm a CC holder?
I am mostly going to be keeping the gun at my apartment, but wanted to be sure on laws. I would appreciate any insight !

Dude, you are in a different place. DO NOT carry your gun, you will end up in jail. I am pretty sure having it in your car will get you jail time. You need to learn the laws. They are very strict

Yup. You may have broken laws just by bringing your gun there with you.
Might wanna check on that

That's cool. I honestly don't carry very often, but got it in Lousiana so I could when necessary.
I will keep it in my apartment. On the drive up, I had the gun and bullets separate
So I should or shouldn't say "I have a LA CC and I'm not carrying concealed" if I get pulled over? I just didn't know if it would pop up for them if they don't even honor other states permits.
I ask because I've already been pulled over without my gun on me or in my car

I'd probably want better info than from the internet.....on a Louisiana forum...on gun laws in the notoriously strict California.
If it is internet advice you seek, I'd at least go to calguns and ask there.
Also, if you just became a resident of Cali and are no longer a resident of Louisiana your concealed carry permit is no longer valid. Louisiana permits are only valid for Louisiana residents.

You probably broke a law by posting about guns on TD. Frick California.

Basically just forget everything you know about LA gun laws and handle your weapons as if you live in Australia.

I hate to say it, but...as far as your gun rights are concerned in California: You're screwed.

You're right, but I figured someone may have moved to Cali and been familiar faster than what I would be able to find online.
I haven't changed my address yet, but I intend to go and change my information at the DMV next week. I think it takes 365 days to become a resident though.
So my CC will no longer be valid in LA once I am resident here. Or will it still be valid through expiration IF I am living there?

If I was about to go somewhere where it was necessary to carry, meaning I'd likely have to use it, I would probably just not go there.

I don't know the technical process of becoming a resident of another state.
BUT I can tell you this, resident or not of LA, in Cali you won't be carrying a loaded gun anywhere. Since you wont, there is no need to alert any LEO you "have a permit". Since you are staying there, 365 days or not, you should go ahead and frame your CC permit or cut it up and remember it as the way things once were.

Haha! Thank you for that sad, but honest truth

When I called and was driving through, the CC office told me no mags with more than 7 rounds and mags and guns have to be separated and in locked containers.
