i know its considered a budget bolt action but what yall think of this deal: LINK

$283 with a vortex crossfire 3x9x40. the scope is $150 from academy. I can repurpose on another gun. I've been considering getting a ruger american 308 just to have. This gun is not much different but a better value I think.

Just seeing what the OB thinks

Have you fired one of these a few times? Or know a good source that uses one?

I thought TC was owned by Smith and Wesson. Maybe I'm mistaken.

I logged one of these guns in yesterday. Smith and Wesson was the manufacturer, Compass was the model and TC was stamped on there somewhere.

Oh, oops. I have heard some TC quality issues after I buyout so I assumed Freedom Group acquired them.

not interested in 6.5creed yet. got a reloading friend who bought a ruger american 6.5 and said he still loves his 308 better.

In addition, the gun only is on sale at KY Gun Co. for $198. I'll prob buy a scope/rifle combo in 7-08 for a "grandchild rifle." Has an adjustable trigger and threaded muzzle. One of my friend's has a son who bought a used one a few wks ago in 6.5 CM. He put a Leupold 12X scope on it and shot a 3 shot group at 100 yds of 6/10". He ended up hitting steel targets w/ it at 1000 yards.

I have an older TC weather series in 30-06, gets hunted lots every year it has been a great accurate gun with factory ammo.

That's a little cheaper than the KY Gun Co combo, but the scope is a "Sun Optics". Never heard of that. I'd rather pay $40 extra for the Vortex Crossfire II at KY Gun Co.

Think I'm gonna get a .308 and a 22-250 with the scopes just bc. I'll repurpose the scope from the 308 to something else.
