Making a long drive with some colleagues in a few weeks to spend a long weekend in Grand Isle. This will be an inshoring fishing trip. How is the fishing right now?

Grand Isle is more popular during the summer and warm weather months.

Not that you can't catch fish around the island during the winter but there will not be many reports if any to find during the winter.

Most choose to take the shorter drive to closer inside locations of marshes to fish due to the trout moving up and in during the winter months.

Lake Ponchy is hot right now and you can catch fish in a toilet in Plaquemines Parish.

I'd imagine the winds would have Barrartaria Bay and the Island itself churned up this time of year, but never fished it this early. Report back with results and good luck.

Picked up some nice sheephead and a few small flounder hopping platforms in Caminada Bay, a few bulls in the Pass, 1 black tip shark in the Pass, 2 very large Crevalle, a few sting ray and a lot of hardheads.

All-in-all, it was a good trip.

You have that right.

Now my results might have been different if I had that boat in your avatar.

I have camp in fourchon. Been tearing up the reds in the marshes. Find a spot where the current is running through pretty quick (rock jetty if possible) throw a spinner and slow reel it on the bottom. Keeper every cast
