Went to LSP HQ late in the day on May 23rd to apply and get fingerprinted. Received today June 5th. 13 total days and there was a holiday mixed in there.

I was incredibly impressed with that group of ladies. In and out for the finger printing, had some paperwork issues that they got taken care of very quickly. Name was spelled incorrectly on my original license (I blame my name, not them) and got my new one two days later.

A lot. I wouldn't mind paying IT but it's the renewal every couple of years. What was it, 2... or 3?

I wish it was a one time fee or maybe even 10 years. Just not worth it to me. I keep one (firearm) in my truck and several in my home.

I haven't live in LA for 15 years so my total is going to be $50 more then someone that has lived in LA.

$90 Class and notary at Baker Range
$10 Photo passport at Baker range
$175 Permit from LA (money order only)
$10 finger printing (not positive)

so total for me was $285 to get my conceal Carry permit good for 5 years. For a LA resident of the last 15 years it would cost $235ish.

I thought it would take 6 weeks since I had to have a multi state background check done. But it only took 6 work days... 13 days total including holidays and weekends.

Shew, it's actually not NEARLY as much as I thought.

Mine was:
100 for the class
10 for passport photo
30 for notary
125 for fee
10 for fingerprinting

= $275 for 5 years.

ETA: Only $125 after the 5 years just for renewal.

PSU2LSU,
Wow, that was FAST! Using digital prints instead of paper, mine took 12 weeks (from the time it arrived at their office) last spring/summer! Of course, the last week of waiting was because their printer had run out of ink and they were waiting for more ink in order to print the license.

That is BS. Come to where I live in AL:

1. Walk into the Sheriff's Office
2. Provide state issued ID
3. Get background checked
4. Pay $20 that goes toward the upkeep of the training facility at said Sheriff's Office.
5. Get permit.

About 10 minutes total. Oh, that training facility can be used by you.

Same here in GA, although the fee varies by county, next step is to sweet talk my sheriff into signing off on the suppressor

Sorry for bringing this back up but I forgot to comment on this yesterday. I am not sure how many states recognize AL's CC permit. LA is the most recognized with around 45 or so states. Will I be traveling to all of those states, no. However, I know that the entire Gulf coast and east coast is approved to LA CCL friendly.

Not that this makes up for the difference in price but it takes a bit of the sting away. Now if you tell me that AL is recognized by 44 states and is almost the same as LA, I might shite a brick.
