Good scope for 17 HMR?

I recently acquired a Marlin 917V, I put the scope bases on it last night and was trying to figure out what kind of scope to put on it. My price range is $100-$200. It would be used mainly for squirrel hunting and for teaching my son to shoot with a scope when he gets older.

I put a 4-12 X 40 from Bass Pro on mine. It's was a little over $100 and works really well.

Its on my .22 mag. on the money at 100yds

i had a center point 4-16x50 on mine and it was great for a .17, i wouldnt put it on anything bigger than .22. not sure how accurate and repeatable the clicks were but you dont need that on a .17 all you need is a scope that holds 0.it was $60 AT Walsmart.
