I've already got some watermelons, tomatoes, basil, and bell peppers growing. But I just got some more land to work with so I'd like to get some other things going as well. The LSU AgCenter has some good info on what to grow and when: LINK

I just wanted to see if yall also had any good advice on what would be good to start this time of year. That LSU Agcenter article mentions sweet potatoes, so I'll probably do that. Are there any good herbs to start around this time?

Thanks

You can plant a lot of herbs, just water them. I recently made an herb garden out of two small beds that are up against my outdoor kitchen. Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Basil...so many.

Keep in mind size and annual/perennial when planting. There's a lot of info on the net if you do a search. I'm new to this so can't really help much.

Looks like cantaloupe or Southern Peas are your best two bets to plant in May. I think you could get something out of an eggplant. Also, some late planted tomatoes might produce if you keep them from burning up before they can truly establish their roots.

Personally, I just pulled some squash. I'm going to put some cantaloupe in its place.

Good luck,

Okra and Eggplant should be good to go..

SHould be able to get some snap beans in if you hurry before it gets to hot.

It's not too late to plant most things.

Okra, peppers, peanuts, and cucumbers would all have time to produce.
