Chicot State Park in Ville Platte (my favorite)
Indian Creek in Woodworth(2 hours)
Toledo Bend (3 hours)
Lake Kisatchie National Forest about 2.5 - 3 hours away

There's a place called Illusions in Woodville, MS. Pretty outdoorsy type of place and your son can pitch a tent there.

Wrong board DA

Tunica hills or Percy Quinn.

Tunics is less "campy" and more trails and small waterfalls and such. Percy Quinn is cool but they have cabins, campgrounds and rv spots. It's a cool place but isn't roughing it by any means. They have a lake and a golf course.

I'd personally just go on some property (family/friend's) and/or the river bank and just set up camp.

In today's (Sunday) paper there are 2-3 pages in the Magazine section that highlights Kisatchie National Forest, Lake Kincade and the Wild Azalea Trail. Lots of cool pictures and info on camping spots you hike in to and trails you can hike as well as day use areas.

Hit the river and pitch a tent on a sand bar.
