Which brand automatically garners respect. You know, when someone says they own one and everyone thinks "That's a high quality gun" As in they never make a crappy pistol.

Seriously, that's a tough question.

I'd say Colt. The 1860 Army, the 1873 single action, The Trooper MKIII .357 revolver, and there is a noticeable difference in the extra slickness of their 1911's action.

You can't really argue with this. They don't make flashy guns but they make quality guns that go boom when you pull the trigger. It's the AK of the pistol world. Not the absolute most accurate but tough, reliable, and won't let you down.

What would it cost to get one done like in the first picture? Desertish coloration.

Exactly. Apparently, many on here dont agree with me and Im not even a "Glock Guy", but you cant deny that they make quality pistols. They print money and make a product that holds its value, is revered in the market, has been proven over a long period of time (I realize the same can be said for many other manufacturers). If you were to build the ideal firearms empire, Glock did it right.

I love 1911's. A good 1911 will always be the GOAT to me. They are the epitome of American made quality. They were the trusted sidearm of many bad motherfrickers that served this country. If I can only have one pistol for the rest of my life, it would be a 1911. With all that said, I understand the significance and importance that Glock has on the firearm market. Anyone that thinks otherwise is being naive. Because of that, I believe they are the king of the hill and are the gold standard as stated in the OP.

i agree with your statement as a glock man, except for this. every pistol made is inherently more accurate than the the shooter behind it. i'd be interested in any evidence you have other than anecdotal that demonstrates the glock as less accurate than other handguns in its class

glock is and always has been the "gold standard" for polymer- framed striker fired pistols

Colt 1911's are top notch and my favorite pistol I own. Wilson Combat is a brand I would add to the list.

I'm a Glock man as well, but you can't tell me it's the most accurate pistol on the market.
