Going to grand Isle tomorrow for the day with my Daughter. Where is a good place to go fishing and what are they catching this time of year there?

Thanks

That seems an odd location for a day trip, where are you traveling from?

gtodds:

Just up LA 1 from Grand Isle about 2 miles is Elmers Island. You can drive on the beach and fish which is really a back saver since you don't have to carry your gear for a 100yards or more.

My secretary's son caught a mess of white trout and a bull red from the Caminada fishing pier last night.

Specks aren't anywhere you can easily get to yet. Always redfish patrolling the passes. Gnats should be dying. They weren't bad yesterday. But don't hold your breath for a good fishing trip. It's too early with all the cool weather. You might hook into some hardheads and maybe a couple reds in the surf or off the bridge.

People do well off of Hwy. 1 between the Fourchon and Elmer's but shite on that.

Way to early for grand isle and I suspect the specks will be moving in late as hell with this cold arse weather we have been having

I usually don't start running traps until memorial weekend but that's just because I don't fish out there until then

The colder weather will have the trout delayed this year.

I usually start to catch trout in the surf in the last weekend of April. This year i may not go until mid May. I know some people that caught bull reds in the surf at Forchon last weekend, I think they only caught one trout though.

Will the trout show up on the gulf
side all at once or hang out on the marsh side for a bit? This will be my first summer down there with a boat.
