went to the swamp fishing Sunday...gnats buzzing around so just swatted them away and kept fishing...
later on that evening every where they bit me was swole up big time...I mean my ears looked like Dumbo ears...

the wife went outside yesterday evening talking on the phone and the gnats ate her up...this morning her left eye and the side of her face was swole up...

anybody else experiencing this?...

Grandma always swore by skin so soft I think it's called, she also came at me with dryer sheets the other day when we're at the camp to rub on my legs lmao

I've been ate up by gnats fishing in the marsh before but not to the point where I swole up like this...it's like they are feeding on hazardous waste...

They ain't no joke this year. I have lumps on both sides of my neck, ears and both arms. They are huge welps and itch like a mofo.

I did a lot of research on this a couple of years ago and found something online that works like a charm. Buy a bottle of Dettol (British antiseptic) on amazon, mix it 1:1 with vanilla extract and put it in a spray bottle and spray it on to repel gnats. We usually use it in the out islands where gnats are bad, but they are so bad around here this year, we mixed up a batch and it works here too.

Sawyers Maxi Deet is the best I've ever used. Gnats land on you and die, it's glorious. No bites whatsoever.

My BIL & FIL swear by some damn vanilla body spray called "body fantasies" I didnt believe them, its to a point that all the stores around here are actually sold out. Try a local walgreens or cvs.

Fight the gnats + smell like a classy stripper = win

Yes

Thursday evening at CHPC for my kids high school baseball game and gnats were everywhere.

I woke up Saturday around 3 AM scratching my arm. When I got up later, I had redness and swelling, like it was forming a head, but it never did.

After showering, I discovered 5 other areas on head and neck, and they are still present today.

I've fished the marsh all my life and couldn't breathe due to gnats, but have never had this happen. And we were N of New Roads.

Supposedly there is a Victoria secret spray that works wonders.

Yes I'm wondering if it's a different species, or carrying something with it.

I know how to keep them off, I'm just curious as to why these bites are responding so differently.

Doesn't make sense.

Most people who spend time in the marsh are aware of how to suppress them, but after getting swarmed 100 miles N of the marsh, resulting in welps that itch and last for now nearly a week, I want to know WTF is going on.

Second the Amber romance. But get your SO to buy it, helps avoid the questions when you get home and smell pretty.

Was kicking myself last week, left my supply at home and the Toledo gnats showed up.
