Going on 2 days with out power, luckily the weather is nice and the house is bearable but I think I'm ready to get a generator. Looking for something to run a fridge, 2 isolating fans or window unit, couple of lamps and a TV. Appreciate the help.

That sucks bro. I got mine with a Subaru engine for $150 from a pawn shop because it wouldn't continue running after starting it. Took it home and took the carb off and sprayed with carb cleaner and runs like a champ.
Try the pawn shops.
Honda of course makes the best generators, but they are expensive.

We have a Honda for tailgate and love the size and quitness. Just want to know what size to get to run the fridge and few other things.

If you want a small and cheap Generator, take a look at Harbor Freight little 900w gen for 89.00. It wont run the A/c but it will run a fan, led lights and the fridge.

I spent the bucks after Katrina on a Honds EM5000SX. After 10 years I'm impressed it starts easy (manual pull) and runs like a clock. Just ran it for 2 days without a hitch. It runs refrig, freezer, lights, well pump, fans, 1 stove burner, oven, microwave, etc (not all at once). I flip the breakers for the water heater and A/C first. Holds 6 gallons and runs over 12 hrs on a tank. The newer EU5000SX uses an inverter (cleaner power) but I have no problem running TV's, WiFi, and computers.
I rewired the outside fuse box so I can flip a switch and disconnect from Entergy before plugging in the generator outside. This is highly recommended to avoid cables running into the house.

A 5500w would be perfectly fine running all of that.
I've done a fridge, window unit, lights, TV, and a few outlets with computers, phones, etc plugged in on a 3500

I have a 6500w that I bought at a tool auction for $60 that will run the whole house and a 3500w as an emergency backup

Damn. I ran into Dindu Nuffins in a parking lot in Chattanooga and he tried to sell me one for $250. I thought that was decent, but I didn't have any asbestos gloves to move it from his truck to mine.

Yea 7.5 Meg will run a pretty damn big ocean supply vessel
6500-7500 is generally a good size for basic heavy house loads. If you're smart about how you load it you can do a bunch.

Bought the 3500w at same auction for $20 gotta love used tool auctions. I occasionally get something that doesn't work but if you go to the ones with a reputable auctioneer you are generally pretty safe. My buddy bought a barely used 15" wheel band saw for $80 and a new radial arm saw for $120. We filled up a 16' trailer that day for around $800.

I have 2 of the Honda 2k small ones. They are awesome.
I've run 2 refridgerators, a freezer, TV, satellite box, modem and router, fan and an aquarium on them.

I have a 5500 continuous/8500 max that will run my entire house (2000 sf) minus the main a/c. The ability to run the ceiling fans is a bid deal and this wired to your house can do it. All we did was buy a few small window a/c units and we were ok after a few major storms.

We've been running our 6250w since Monday and it powers all that plus a deep freezer and computer. Could probably handle the breaker panel minus toasters, and microwave.

I had 2 of the honda eu2000's that I sold for damn near what I paid for them after using them for 5 years. I upgraded to the eu6500i because my buddy bought a whole house generac and sold it to me for a deal. I'm partial to the honda for:
Clean power, I can run Wifi, phones, laptops etc
Quiet, some cheap generators are very loud
Reliability, I have an electric start but the thing starts on the first pull after sitting for months
I would check online if you go with a Honda, you can usually find an ok deal, they do keep their value

You've just got to make sure they all don't kick on at the same time.
I've never made a generator muffler, but will probably try and adapt a four wheeler silencer to mine next time I use it. I'm the only dude around with one, and I want to keep that on the hush

All you need is 6500 for that stuff. I'm backfeeding the whole 110 side of my house, two fridges, an instant hot water heater. I don't have a window that accepts a window unit or else I'd be running it.

I did the same.
Just simplier. I have a 40 amp two phase breaker that goes to a plug outside the panel. It's a weatherproof box. In that is an "RV" outlet (the kind that locks in place)
I turn off the main and lock it out with the $10 lock out I got at Home Depot (or Lowes). Then start the generator, the turn the 40 amp breaker on, and the house is up. Can run everything but central air. I have two window units we can put in in about 20 minutes for cooling bedrooms.
