I have had a husqvarna 128cd trimmer for about 3 years and am having to have it repaired for the second time in 3 months because the pull cord is stuck and won't retract. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if I end up buying a new one, what's the most durable brand and model?

You can't just buy a whole new housing with the cord and spring and everything? I wouldn't buy an entire trimmer because of an issue like that.

I have a stihl KM 90. I've always preferred stihl products in general because of the long history for quality products. I haven't had any issue with it other than ethanol eating the primer bulb. It still starts without it so i just keep running.

Stihl, look at the Kombi system. You will pay a little more up front, but well worth it in the long run. I have the Km130 with string trimmer, edger, blower, cultivator, and bed re-definer attachments. I've been told the pole saw attachment works great too, but I don't have many trees on my property so I never got it. Go with the Km90 or above if you are going to use it for than just trimming. The smaller power heads have enough power to run any of the attachments, but using on power head for multiple jobs will undoubtedly put more strain and hrs on the motor, so I went big for reliability reasons.

I have a Poulan convertible trimmer. It uses all the attachments made by Craftsman. I have a string trimmer, blade trimmer, edger, blower and cultivator. I love that I don't have to have all these machines separately and just 1 gas mix. When it goes out, I'll buy another.

Do not repair a pull rope assembly on a trimmer. Order a complete assembly $30?, 4 screws is all that holds it on. Labor to repair will be more than $30 and the repair will never last

All my equipment at home is Redmax, it was all I used when I ran my lawn care business, good stuff! I will say though them being owned by Husqvarna now has me concerned for the future, but I love my Redmax equipment, been using them for 15+ yrs

I love that my yard isn't so big that I need a backpack blower. Start to finish, push mow, edge, weedeat and blower (including attachment swap outs) in about an hour and a half. Had an acre sized yard with lots of trees before. Don't miss it one bit!
