Lookin at a used one to put some nav/mapping capability in my boat, anyone have one? had one? like it? How old is this unit, best I can tell it's about 6-7 years.

what kind of mapping are you looking to get? if the unit is that old make sure garmin is still releasing updates for it or you will be stuck with outdated software and info. Also check into the processor capabilities. Usually units that old cant quickly handle all the data of detailed maps

I have that exact unit in my boat, It is about 6-7 years old, only problem I had with it was it no longer read from the transducer, I simply added a cheap depth finder.

Map wise nothing fancy but will get you back to the launch if you get turned around.
The track line it leaves is pretty spot on. sometimes at night not being able to see too good I can just follow that line back with no problems.

Thanks for the info, yes there are Garmin updates available and from what I understand from the seller, the firmware has not ever been updated, so I will have to do that immediately.

He does have a Garmin LA coastal map card with it too. I have an older boat, so not lookin to spend a bunch; if the maps are 85% accurate, and the tracks work, I'm good with it.
